No one enjoys being ill, no matter how benign the malady may be. However, there are a few small perks, such as unlimited ice cream, pity from friends, and perhaps, if one is very lucky, a few ‘Get Well Soon’ bouquets. With a vast variety of bright, cheerful flowers in uplifting hues available, it can be a simple task to add colour to the drab bedside, whether at home or in hospital, of an ill friend or loved one.
Gerberas, with their smile-inducing faces, come in many eye-popping shades that look fabulous on their own or mixed with other flowers. A mix of yellow and white gerberas would be a lovely gift, as would it be if it were a bouquet of yellow, white, and orange as well. Gerberas also come in a wide variety of pink shades, and a mixture of these blooms with white gerberas would be a special treat. If you want a variety of flowers, try a combination of orange gerberas with pink roses, red gerberas with red tulips and mums, fuchsia gerberas with orange roses and lime mums, or yellow and white gerberas in a bouquet with sunflowers.
Sunflowers in themselves make a cheerful statement, and look lovely in a bouquet on their own or mixed with a variety of other flowers. A bouquet of sunflowers, along with yellow roses and gerberas, would bring the rays of the sun directly to your ill friend, while sunflowers combined with fuchsia gerberas and orange roses would recall the rays of a sunset and would be a welcome reminder of what awaits outside when they are well again.
Lilies and carnations, with their unique and fragrant aromas, would dazzle more than just the eyes but the nose as well, and could perfume any dull hospital room with joy. Coming in a wide array of shades, the possibilities are endless for these aromatic blooms. A spray of white, pink, orange, and yellow carnations would be a reprieve from the pains of illness, while pink and white lilies could liven up the bedside of a young girl, and delight the nose as well as the eyes.
Other flowers available in both bright and pastel colours include tulips, freesia, and mums, all of which work well on their own, or as focal points or accents with other flowers. A bouquet of freesia in pastel shades, such as white, yellow, pink, and lavender, or a bouquet of white, pink and yellow tulips, would surely hasten the recovery of any loved one.
