Following tradition would bring pink flowers for girls and blue for boys, with perhaps some white accent flowers, and there are a great many attractive options available down this route. Lilies and carnations, both associated with innocence and motherhood, make very appropriate gifts for both mother and child. Pink and white lilies, carnations, or calla lilies would make a symbolic tribute to the honourable task that is bringing life into the world. A combination of pink and white roses, representing grace and innocence, would also make a lovely gift for a newborn girl, as would lavender and white roses for a boy.
